Our ear, nose and throat specialists, Dr. Renee Moneyhun and Dr. Suzel Hall, are board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. They have extensive knowledge and expertise in evaluating and treating disorders of the head and neck, including complicated sinus and nasal problems, hearing loss, ringing in the ears, vertigo, snoring, sleep disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing problems.
Dr. Alexandra Yu is committed to delivering high quality, customized patient care. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders, with a minor in psychology, from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Dr. Yu then earned her doctoral degree of Audiology from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she spent three years training with pediatric, adult and geriatric populations. She completed her fourth year externship at a high-volume private practice in Manhattan that specializes in hearing aids from a variety of manufacturers. Dr. Yu delivers care tailored to the patient’s lifestyle and environment. She joined ENT & Allergy Specialists of Shady Grove in July 2019. Dr. Yu’s hobbies include dining at local restaurants and taking pilates classes.
Dr. Brandy Charles earned her Masters of Arts and Doctorate in audiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She has over 13 years of experience including both working in clinical settings and supervising students and teaching coursework in academic settings. D r. Charles has also provided hearing services to local head start programs, schools, and senior centers, as well as serving as the audiology supervisor for the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute’s Cleft Palate Program and the Brain Injury Assessment Program at Loyola University. S he is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and
is licensed in Maryland and Washington DC.
Dr. Charles specializes in adult diagnostics, hearing aid evaluations and fittings, and vestibular disorders. She is committed to helping patients not only hear better with hearing aids and assistive listening devices but to also helping patients understand their diagnosis and learn self-advocacy skills. When not in the office Dr. Charles can be found exploring new cuisines and hiking and enjoying the outdoors with her husband and daughter.
Shama Shaikh, PA-C values quality patient care and takes pride in empowering and educating her patients to help them improve their medical condition.
Shama received a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She then went on to receive a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Towson University. Shama has been practicing as an ENT Physician Assistant since 2015. She also has expertise in Sleep Medicine.
Shama speaks fluent Urdu and Hindi. She is a member of the Society of Physician Assistants in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, as well as the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
In her spare time, Shama enjoys playing basketball, swimming, baking, and spending time with her husband and two young children.
Dr. Richard Kao specializes in treating patients requiring cosmetic or reconstructive surgery of the face. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. He then attended Medical School at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, graduating with surgical research honors. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. In residency, he continued to receive multiple research honors and was appointed Chief Resident in his final year.
Following residency graduation, Dr. Kao went on to complete a highly prestigious fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery under Dr. Dean Toriumi in Chicago, Illinois. He served as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Rush University Medical Center.

Dr. Kao lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife and young child. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, violin, and supporting Liverpool Football Club.

Dr. Rebecca Kamil completed her internship and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. For her dedication to patient care and education, she was given the Outstanding Intern Award and the Henkel Chief Resident Teaching Award.
She has extensive training in Advanced Rhinology and Allergy from Johns Hopkins.
